Proper Placement of Targets

on the Range Cardboard.

By placing the target in the correct place on the range cardboard will help with controlling where your bullets are going and what they are actually hitting.

There should be one basic location of the target based upon whether you are standing or sitting to fire your firearm.

Basically, if you are standing the target should be in the upper half of the range cardboard. This will ensure that your bullet is going downrange and hitting the backstop properly. By doing this your bullet should not be hitting the ceiling panels, the walls, or the range floor.

If you are sitting the target should be in the lower half of the range cardboard. This will ensure that your bullet is going downrange and hitting the backstop properly. By doing this your bullet should not be hitting the ceiling panels, the walls, or the range floor.

For those that use full-body targets, please do the following:

Standing

  • Headshots and upper body shots are fine at any distance.
  • Lower body shots (pelvic area) please be sure that your distance of shooting is at least 7 or more yards down range.

Sitting

  • As long as you are sitting all targets should be only on the lower half of the range cardboard.

Cooperation with the above target placement will make the range and the shooting experience better for all the members and guests.

Please remember that if you bring a guest, you are responsible for that guest and how they are shooting and following range rules.

Be knowledgeable of where your (and your guest) bullet is going.

Thank you for your cooperation in these matters.
